SQUARE (make four) 

Ch 6; join with sl st to form a ring. 

Rnd 1: Ch 1 , work 12 sc in ring; join with sl st to first sc. 

Rnd 2:  Ch 3, 4 dc in same st, ch 2, skip next 2 sc, (5 dc in next sc, ch 2, skip next 2 sc) around. Join with sl st to first dc. 

Rnd 3:  Sl st to middle dc, ch 3, [2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in same st, 3 dc in next ch 2 sp skip next 2 dc,*[3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in next dc, 3 dc in next ch 2 sp, skip next 2 dc; repeat from * around.  Join with sl st to first dc. 

Rnd 4:  Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 2 st, 3 sc in next corner ch 2 sp, sc in next 9, repeat around. Join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends. 

ASSEMBLY 
With RIGHT sides together of two squares, join with sl st in middle sc of corner through both thicknesses.  Sl st in each st across to middle sc of other corner.  Fasten Off, weave in ends.  Repeat until all 4 squares are joined. 

Fringe:  Add two 4 " strands of thread per stitch across bottom.  Trim Evenly - a fabric cutting board and cutting wheel works great for this! 

Variations - alternate and use complimentary colors on rounds 2 and 4.
